Walking by faith

The Real Reason Behind Trials: The Testing of Our Faith

The subject of suffering frequently comes up in Christian teachings. Many times the speaker will quote a passage like Romans 5:3-4
3 And not only [that], but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Then they go on and on about “the value of suffering”: God is using suffering, hardship, difficulty to improve our character, refine us, make us stronger, make us “more Christ-like”.
They have it completely wrong.

  • Faith is the EVIDENCE of things not seen.
  • Hebrews 11 is not about faith “heroes”, but rather ordinary people who lived by faith in the goodness of God.

The Just Shall Live By Faith – Pt 2 (Hebrews Pt 32)

[Hebrews 11 intro, Heb 10:38-39]

What IS faith? That’s a very important question to answer, since the Bible is clear that “the just shall live by faith” (Hab 2:4, Rom 1:17, Gal 3:11, Heb 10:38). In this episode we dig into this question and discover that there are two aspects of faith:

  • First, faith looks to the PERSON of the living Lord Jesus Christ: Christ IN US the hope of glory and we IN CHRIST, giving us completeness NOW.
  • Second, faith acknowledges and enjoys the perfect, finished work of The Lord Jesus Christ.

We also learn that we are “believers”, not because we believe, but because GOD has MADE us that way! This is all because of the perfection of JESUS and HIS FINISHED WORK.

The Necessity of The Just Shall Live By Faith

By Mark VanOuse
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)

[6] But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

How many would like to please God? If you are truly born again, a child of God, deep down you desire to please God, right?
“Without faith it is impossible to please Him”
Now, Hebrews 11:6 stands in the context of the greatest chapter in all the Bible about faith, in the greatest book in all the Bible about the New Covenant. You would agree, then, that this verse is extremely important on the subject of living the Christian life in a manner that truly pleases God, right?

  • The importance of remembering the fullness of Jesus Christ, the perfection of His finished work and that we are 100% complete in Him.
  • The supernatural effect of the illumination of Christ, His finished work, our completeness in Him and Christ alive in us.
  • Holding on to the confidence we have in Him.
  • The great reward such confidence gives us.
