The Gospel

Dark storm pushed back by brilliant light.

More Than Conquerors in the Darkest of Times, Part 2: Victory in Context 1

[Series: More Than Conquerors in the Darkest of Times] It is breathtaking how God meets us at our very worst — unworthy, sinful and deserving of His just wrath — and transforms us into His beloved children and rightful heirs of all! In this episode we take a look at the context of Romans 8:15-39, first by catching a breathtaking view of God’s great salvation for YOU, found in Romans 1:16 – 3:28 …

  • We open with making sure that our perspective of the crisis factors in GOD, who makes all the difference in the world for us.
  • The Good News of the Gospel: the righteousness of God, given by faith.
  • The Bad News of the Gospel: why the wrath of God against sinners is just.
  • The Great News of the Gospel: what Jesus accomplished for us, so that we would be justified and have the same standing with God that Jesus has before His Father.
  • What about you? Will you respond today?

Justified Forever! Part 2

[Romans 3:21-26] The great reformer Martin Luther once said, “This one and firm rock, which we call the doctrine of justification, is the chief article of the whole Christian doctrine, which comprehends the understanding of all godliness.” He also called this doctrine the “article of the standing and falling of the church …if this article stands, the Church stands; if it falls, the Church falls.”

Justification also finds supreme importance in the Bible itself. That’s what we’ll find out in this episode, part 2 of the message, “Justified Forever”

The Just Shall Live By Faith – Pt 6 (Hebrews Pt 36)

“Faith Ground Zero” [Hebrews 11:11-12, Romans 3:10-26]. Abraham faced an impossible situation: fathering a child when he was 100 and Sarah was 91. Yet, there was something remarkable about the nature of their faith. In fact, the Bible identifies their faith as “the righteousness of faith”. Through faith in Christ, they were supernaturally enabled by God to bear a son, the child of promise.

What was it about their faith that was so effective? To find that answer, we look to the book of Romans, chapters three and four. In this episode we delve into Romans 3:10-26 and see that the entire human race has fallen catastrophically far from God. None are righteous, so says God. Despite that grim outlook, God intervenes with HIS righteousness given freely, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe” (Rom 3:27). Our relationship with God is based on the perfect and wonderful standing that JESUS has with the Father. This is the foundation of living life victoriously with a bold and confident faith in Christ!

Hebrews Pt 07: It’s Entering GOD’S Rest! (Chapter 4, Part 1)

This is a very powerful, life-changing lesson. Many Christians are somewhat familiar with the fact that Hebrews talks about “rest” a lot. But few understand the revolutionary truth that the “rest” spoken of is God’s rest. And He is resting because He has completely finished His work. Topics covered:

  • It’s about God’s rest, not yours.
  • Why God would rest
  • What God’s rest meant at the creation (Genesis 2)
  • What God’s rest meant to Israel under Joshua’s leadership

Why We Would be Ashamed of The Gospel

Many of us are familiar with Romans 1:16

[16] For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (NKJV)

Why would Paul, inspired of the Spirit, say “I am not ashamed“?

Obviously, the Spirit selected that word “ashamed” for an important reason. It isn’t “I am not afraid of the Gospel” or “I am not intimidated by the Gospel”, but “I am not ashamed“. The problem of shame is brought to light.

Most of us have thought that the problem was being ashamed of the Gospel itself. That we are afraid to speak to others about the Gospel because we don’t want to look like “religious fanatics” or they won’t like us anymore. But the context of the following verses — indeed, chapters — opens up another possibility. …
